CVC and HFW Quick Comprehensions have been created to support the pupils who find reading challenging, whilst still being able to develop the different skills within retrieval. Thus, helping to build reading confidence and comprehension skills. Each CVC / HFW text has been written specifically contain a high proportion of CVC and HFW to provide highly accessible texts for either younger readers or older pupils who still struggle to read more complex texts.
*CVC / HFW Quick Comprehensions are not designed or intended to be mapped against specific sounds within phonics schemes and provide an early reading scheme progression, but rather provides simple texts made up mostly of CVC / HFWs used in a repetitive manner, with a selection of retrieval style questions.
